How Lazy Is He? with Helen Duff and The Latebloomers
Thursday, 17 May @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm£5
This week at How Lazy Is He? We’re thrilled to have Helen Duff, rolling into town with her humorously oversized trunk covered in stamps from around the globe. She travels around the UK performing at care homes. She travels around the world with Clowns Without Borders, and she coming to Bristol with her performance comedy that defies any label and genuinely baffles those who write comedy blurbs for a living. Her shows bring together personal storytelling, societal-level topics, and just pure stupidity and silliness of the highest order. You have to be there, so come!
Amused Moose New Act Finalist 2017
Whip-smart stream-of-consciousness comedy from ‘master of shamelessly silly yet socially conscious clowning’ **** (BroadwayBaby.com), Helen Duff. Duff dives to ‘a level of intimacy most acts wouldn’t dare’ **** (Skinny) and ‘it’s a joy to behold’ **** (EdFestMag.com). ‘Bold, subversive and very funny… a formidable comic’ **** (Scotsman) slips beneath the skin of standard storytelling to explode paradigms with paint gun precision. As seen on BBC Three and alongside Will Ferrell in Holmes and Watson. ‘Duff is incredibly funny and deserves any and all praise that comes her way’ **** (Skinny).
We’re also excited to introduce you to The Latebloomers. They’re bringing a taste of their show SCOTLAAAAND! , which takes the audience on a wild ride with rhythm, body percussion, singing, stomping, clowning straight to the heart of the spirit of Scotland!
The Latebloomers are Jon from England, Sam from Australia and Ollie from Sweden. They all met at the International Theatre School of Jacques Lecoq from which they graduated last year before moving to Bristol. They are now about to embark on a big ol’ tour across Europe, and will basically be leaving directly from the Lazy Dog, with the wind from your lovely applause and laughter filling their sails.
Also, Richard James, performing boring old standup comedy. Just standing there, talking about things that he thinks are funny. Jobs he’s had. Things he overheard in line at Pret. Devon. What a mug! Just kidding, Richard is on of Bristol’s top-shelf comic voices and we’re geeked to have him on! He will talk about Devon, though, fair warning.
Hosted as always by Tony Chiotti, your resident cranky yank. And followed by a cheeky, free open mic for those who feel like staying out a bit longer or giving it a go.
Lineup subject to change and change again, but we promise you an amazing night of comedy no matter what.
Five. Lousy. Pounds.
