Why is comedy in Bristol so good?
Because it’s a cool, arty place to live, and that attracts lots of people to perform. There’s a comedy school every summer and a supportive local ‘open mic’ scene. There’s two universities.
Bristol has over 20 different open mic comedy nights!
Some comedy nights are run at big, amazing venues with comedians off the telly.
Others happen above pubs, in coffee shops or bars. These nights are the ones we’re passionate about, and they are what makes Bristol’s comedy scene so awesome. You won’t see comedians off TV (well, you might..) but you might laugh a lot more. Comedy wasn’t built for big concert venues, it’s best in a small, dark and alcohol-fuelled space.
This is where newer acts try out material in short sets, and they’re often free to attend.
